C.R.I.$.I.$. IS BACK TO THE FUTURE PDF Print E-mail

We can no longer claim that Hip-Hop is an American music genre. Hip Hop is rapidly becoming integrated into different cultures all over the world. Europe, Asia, Africa and Far East are all experiencing a new Hip Hop and Rap craze. The genre is developing into an international phenomenon, and at the reigns of its evolution is the unique and the most talented Hip Hop-Rap artist and musician C.R.I.$.I.$.

Descended from The Great Chief, Mwata Kazembe of the Zambian Lunda people he could claim royalty. But he earns his props by working hard and producing music that contain clever and meaningful lyrics. Through his Zambian heritage, he brings a unique flavour to his style and that has being highly regarded across the U.K. and American Hip-Hop industry.

In January, 2005 his first album, “Officer in Charge,” made history by becoming the first Hip-Hop album to be recorded and produced in Zambia by a Zambian artist. Through adversity, C.R.I.$.I.$. went on to produce music with Yung Thugg. Their co-operative track “Bring It Back Rewind” found its way into the album “UK-US Takeover Volume 15,” which also has Lovely and Lil Wayne’s song “Miss L.O.V.” The same song was also used by U.S. disc jokey, Dj Green Lantern on his Mixtape CD, Myspace Monster Mash.

Regardless of his already established success, C.R.I.$.I.$. is not showing any signs of slowing down. After claiming the title of “Zambia’s biggest and most successful Hip-Hop artist,” he is setting his sights on something bigger. With the American Hip-Hop/Rap market looking for something different, C.R.I.$.I.$. might just have that fresh approach and the unique blend of Hip-Hop and Rap music that the mainstream audience is looking for today.

C.R.I.$.I.$. says he has spent most of his time in the studio while in the U.K., recording his upcoming and first international release of the new album called “Designer”.

The album’s name defines the artist’s nature at his very core. “The Designer is a person who creates and devises, plots and intrigues, master and perfects, and this definitely defines me as an artist”, says the rapper. He also believes this is only right as he is the creator of a new sound. Songs like; “Make it Through The Dark” display creativity at it’s best with Rock being mixed with Hip-Hop and not causing the slightest clash or a sense of trying too hard as is the case with most that have tried before him.

The new album also features some great artists like Bob McKay on Saxophone. Bob has worked with a number of top musicians such as; Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Three Degrees, Temptations, Donna Summer, Four Tops, Gabrielle, Deniece Williams, Drifters, Kenny Rogers, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas and now, C.R.I.$.I.$. is the first Hip-Hop artist to be added to this long list of musical legends that Bob had a privilege to work with.

The “Designer” album is due to be released on the market shortly for digital downloads, followed by a single and the full CD release in early 2008.
